Roman architecture was unlike anything that had come before. The Persians, Egyptians, Greeks and Etruscans all had monumental architecture. The grandeur of their buildings, though, was external. Roman buildings were built to be impressive when viewed from outside because their architects all had to rely on building in a post-and-lintel system, which means that they used two upright posts, like columns, with a horizontal block, known as a lintel, laid flat across the top. Mixing the residential fabric of Via Giulia with the embodiment of monumental Roman architecture will bring the neighborhood to the twenty-first century.

Manifesting in an interlocking function, the dwelling and production spaces have varying degrees of meshing. Dependent on the degree of urban intensity, dwelling spaces exist far or near to production spaces to accommodate the needs of every resident. The leisure spaces of a performing arts center that serves the neighborhood in entertainment and expression of creativity.

Thus the completion of Via Giulia is exemplified by the traditional Roman Plaza. The passageways flanked by frames of the surrounding neighborhoods and most importantly, the bridge over the river. Comprised of the important elements that make-up the city: Form, Volume, Structure, and Skin, the project places itself within the urban Fabric
